Star Wars Weekends at Disney Hollywood Studios

Disney Star Wars Weekends OLP TravelStar Wars Weekends!  This annual event in Walt Disney World  takes place at Hollywood Studios and is something Star Wars fans really get excited about.  Disney does it up, and there are always some great stars lined up for each weekend.  The events are themed after the Star Wars Saga and the animated television series; Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

Every weekend, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from May 18-June 10, 2012, you will have the opportunity to join with celebrities for special shows, meet and greets, presentations and so much more!

Disney Star Wars Weekends OLP TravelThis years Star Wars Weekends, based on the attraction Star Tours, are being hosted by two fun celebrities; Ashley Eckstein who provides the voice of Ahsoka Tanoand and James Arnold Taylor who provides the voice of Obi-Wan Kenobi.   James is actually the Official Celebrity Host of Star Wars Weekends 2012, and Ashley is the Celebrity Host of “Behind the Force,” a show that gives fans a behind-the-scenes glimpse at Star Wars: The Clone Wars.  This will be the second year for these two co-hosts.

Ashley is a fashion designer and heads her own company, “Her Universe,” specializing in merchandise and apparel specifically for female sci-fi fans.  You can find some of her creative, Star Wars inspired apparel this year during Star Wars Weekends.

Disney Star Wars Weekends OLP TravelThis year’s event poster features Donald Duck playing the role of Darth Maul from “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace.” Expect to see some fun Star Wars merchandise this year, of course.  There will be two posters available to purchase, beach towels, frames, mugs, and so much more.  One poster will be lenticular in style, and it will appear that Donald Duck is ready to jump right out of the picture.  The posters are a wonderful way to collect autographs, and have them ready to frame in one spot.  The background of the lenticular one is white; perfect for signature collecting!  Each guest is allowed one autograph per celebrity, and your best bet at getting one of those sought after signatures is to get a FASTPASS.

What else is there to do at Star Wars Weekends?  Here is a run down of the events and celebrities.

  • “Hyperspace Hoopla”:This high-energy, one-of-a-kind show is a chance to see some of the famed Star Wars characters performing like never before. It will take place on a stage in front of the Sorcerer Mickey hat on Hollywood Blvd., and is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. each event evening.
  • Disney Star Wars Weekends OLP TravelAutograph Opportunities: As always, there is no additional charge for the celebrity autograph sessions at Star Wars Weekends.  The autograph lines will once again be handled via a FASTPASS-type system. The meet-and-greet session/autograph opportunities are extremely limited, so guests need to arrive early to receive a FASTPASS.  You can get your FASTPASS before you enter the theme park, and this insures your place in line.  Find the kiosk for this special FASTPASS at the celebrity autograph kiosk outside the Front Gate entrance. Get there early, and grab a FASTPASS before the park opens.
  • Star-Studded Event: Keep in mind, autograph opportunities are not the only place to see the celebrities. Star Wars stars take part in fun throughout the day in Star Wars-themed talk shows, behind-the-scenes presentations, the gala “Legends of the Force” parade and more.
