Everyone has been waiting for Disney to do something with the Downtown Disney area in Walt Disney World. The announcement came today! Disney Springs is coming to Walt Disney World! The remodeled shopping venue will be a celebration of the way Florida was at the turn of the century. Small lakeside towns were the norm at that time. Disney will have lots of surprises incorporated into Disney Springs. They will use sights, sounds and aromas to create a timeless shopping experience. This will be a completely new Downtown Disney for guests to enjoy. Disney is creating a story around the 30 year old Downtown Disney. The story will center around Disney Springs. It starts at the Town Center which is pictured here.
Disney News ~ Disney Springs Four Neighborhoods
The Town Center will have bubbling natural looking springs. There will be paths that flow from the Town Center to the three other neighborhoods. One of the issues Disney is addressing is the flow of the downtown area. As the story is told through each area’s landscape, the flow of guest traffic will be smoother. It will be easier to navigate when this is complete. Each new neighborhood will have a distinct feel. Shops and restaurants in the Town Center will be on a promenade. The Landing will have fine dining along the waterfront. The Marketplace will have fun shopping and dining experiences, too. There will be a causeway over the water in this area. Will the rumor of a bridge to Saratoga Springs pan out? There is no word on that at this time. The West Side sounds really exciting! Here is how Disney describes that area. “Disney Springs will blend the familiar with the unexpected throughout its four outdoor neighborhoods including the West Side which will provide an exuberant atmosphere with lively entertainment, along with a series of new elevated spaces that provide both shade and an overlook to the activity below.”
