Celebrity Edge makes her first sailing Dec. 16, 2018 from her homeport at Port Everglades. This ship will have double the number of suites and have 2 new cabin categories that are 23 percent larger than the Solstic class. There are even staterooms that open to the water’s edge to give a closer connection to the sea. Celebrity will also debut the Magic Carpet, a cantilevered platform that moves up and down the ship’s 16 decks on the starboard side to deliver unique experiences.

MSC Cruise Line is launching MSC for ME. This will debut on the MSC Mefaviglia, the line’s first next generation megaship . Beaches (sister brand to Sandals) focus is on family. The new Beaches Turks & Caicos will be ready for guests starting in the new year. It features 12 miles of Caribbean sand and 45,000 square-foot water park! Sesame Street characters will be found roaming throughout the neighborhoods. The new property will showcase authentic Indian cuisine and 2 food trucks!

Families will enjoy screenings of both the live-action and animated versions of the film onboard, and they can even choose to become part of this story as they tour Riquewihr, an idyllic French village that will make guests feel as though they’ve stepped into Belle’s hometown from the movie.

New and Exciting Disney Updates! /2017/07/27/new-and-exciting-disney-updates/ Thu, 27 Jul 2017 23:52:00 +0000 /?p=11646 Continue reading New and Exciting Disney Updates! ]]> Disney parks are always expanding to enhance the magic for families of all sizes. Well, they are at it again! Here are some of the exciting updates to come in the near future:

A long time ago in a galaxy not so far away, Disney Imagineers dreamed about bringing Star Wars to the parks. This is now becoming a reality. Star Wars, Galaxy’s Edge, will be opening in Disneyland and Walt Disney World in 2019. The lands are set in a remote trading port on the edge of wild space. You’ll find yourself in the middle of the action either piloting the Millennium Falcon or riding aboard the Star Destroyer. And what would Star Wars be without a local cantina? Here they’ll be serving up unique drink concoctions including blue milk!

If Star Wars, Galaxy’s Edge isn’t enough Star Wars fun for you, don’t worry because Disney is helping you live your own Star Wars adventure with a new themed resort. It will be unlike anything you’ve ever seen! You will become part of the Star Wars story while becoming a citizen of the galaxy. Every person will have their own unique Star Wars adventure.

Hollywood Studios will be the home to Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway where you will step through the movie screen and inside a Mickey Mouse cartoon. The attraction will have a new story and a new catchy tune to sing along. The Imagineers are calling this a new “2 1/2 D” no glasses required experience. The best part is that there will be more hidden Mickey’s than any other attractions anywhere in the universe! I can’t wait to start the search! This will replace the current Great Movie Ride which closes this August.

Next up: EPCOT. Are you an EPCOT junkie? There are 2 new goodies in store for your enjoyment. There will be a Ratatouille inspired attraction coming to France. Plus, for all you Groot fans out there, construction will start soon for a Guardians of the Galaxy attraction. This will take the place of Ellen’s Energy Adventure which will also be closing soon. In addition to all that, there will be a new updated Green Mission at Mission: Space. This new mission will take you soaring above the earth. Adjacent to this attraction you’ll also be able to dine above the earth at a new restaurant. I would suggest riding Mission: Space BEFORE you eat, though!

2021 will be the 50th Anniversary of the Disney World Resort. They are celebrating in a huge way! Part of the celebration will be the opening of the new attraction TRON! This is going to be similar to the highest rated attraction at Shanghai Disneyland. Tron Lightcycle Power Run is a coaster style attraction where riders board a train of two wheeled Lightcycles for a thrilling adventure. This new attraction will be situated near Space Mountain in the Magic Kingdom.

And lastly, but not least, Walt Disney World has also unveiled 2 new modes of transportation. The “Minnie”Van and the Disney Skyliner. The Minnie Van will be able to transport folks from place to place on the ground. The Skyliner, will be by air. These gondolas will connect Disney’s Art of Animation, Pop Century, and Caribbean Beach resorts and other locations with Disney’s Hollywood Studios and the International Gateway at Epcot.

Head to Hollywood Studios next summer and find yourself shrunk to the size of a toy to explore the world of Andy’s backyard with your favorite Toy Story characters. The Slinky Dog Dash will be a dodge and dash family coasters that stretches Slink to his limits. Alien Swirling Saucers is designed as a toy play set that Andy got at Pizza Planet. Aliens are flying around trying to capture your rocket with “The Claw”.

Big news for the cruisers! Disney Cruise Line has announced the launch of 3 new ships! This will bring the fleet to 7! With all of the advancement in large ships, I can’t imagine what Disney will create this time!

So, with all of this exciting news, I would suggest that you start filling those piggy banks and save for a Disney vacation! Contact one of the helpful Travel Pixies at OLP Travel for travel tips and rates.

Club Med Sandpiper Bay – Fun, Friends, and Food! /2017/07/04/club-med-sandpiper-bay-fun-friends-food/ Tue, 04 Jul 2017 22:23:10 +0000 /?p=11629 Continue reading Club Med Sandpiper Bay – Fun, Friends, and Food! ]]> Ahhhh, Club Med. Wait, what IS Club Med, you may be asking. Well if you don’t know Club Med, you’re missing out. As the original ‘all inclusive’ resort dating way back to 1950, Club Med(s) have been providing exciting adventures, great entertainment, and amazing food for over 65 years! But only in recent years has there been a location in the US. You’ll find Club Med Sandpiper Bay tucked in beside the St Lucie River in Florida, about 2 hours north of Miami. While transportation can be provided or purchased on your own, I recommend renting a car. It’s a simple drive via the Florida Turnpike and the cost of a small rental car is likely significantly less than any other transportation options.

I had the opportunity to visit Club Med Sandpiper Bay in May of 2017. And I have to say, they won me over. Upon arrival we were welcomed with cool water infused with lime and mint. The GE’s and GO’s (if you go to Club Med, you’ll learn the lingo; for now, just think ‘helpful staff’) were so friendly and had us checked in and ready for our adventure in just a few minutes. Then it was off to check out our room and the grounds.

There are various levels of rooms available at this location. For our stay, my friend and I shared a club room. They were kind enough to separate the bed into 2 twin beds so we each had our own comfy bed. Our view was amazing! The rooms have been recently remodeled, so there is definitely a fresh, new feel to this resort.

The grounds are fantastic. Our first stop was the adult pool. With amazing views of the St Lucie (and maybe even a dolphin or manatee spotting, too) and a pool bar just across the sidewalk, this was awesome. There were small ‘cabanas’ as well as traditional beach chairs and cozy loungers. Plus a hot tub to relax those muscles after a long day of playing.

Speaking of playing, there are so many things to do here that you will play away your day without even realizing it. With water fun like kayaking, paddle boarding, and sailing, plus motorized water sports (may be an additional fee depending on the time of the year), you’ll enjoy the sand and surf to it’s fullest. But don’t worry if water sports aren’t your thing. There is also tennis, golf, mini golf, soccer, and more. But I’m saving the coolest thing (in my humble opinion) for last: there is a flying trapeze that you can actually try! That’s right! For those like me who always dreamed of trying one of those babies out, it’s there waiting for you. And trust me, it’s an experience you’ll never forget!

Yep, that’s me up there swinging!

If you have kidlets (of all ages) with you, there are special activities just for them. The kids clubs are seriously awesome. Trust me when I say that my friend and I were kinda sad that we couldn’t join the kids on their adventures. I had to laugh at how many kids were actually upset when the time came to leave for the day!

At the main pool you’ll find all the fun stuff you’d expect, plus some fun things added in throughout the day like games and such. This is a great place for the entire family to cool off and have fun together.

Oh, and then there is the food. Ohhhhh, the food…… I still dream about that chocolate bread…… The Marketplace is a great buffet style location. And the food there is truly out of this world. Each day we found different themed offerings. One day was somewhat Mexican themed, another was Mediterranean themed, and on and on. But even if you don’t care for the theme of the day, no worries because there are always traditional staples there to keep everyone happy. And don’t worry if you’re on a special diet, either. There are tons of sugar free, gluten free, etc options. And multiple locations throughout the buffet make to order. Even the hamburger/hot dog station has loads of varieties of burgers and such. There is a beverage station as well and servers bring around pitchers of water for you.

The other dining location, Riverside, is a traditional table service restaurant. Reservations are highly recommended. The service and food there are both awesome and it’s definitely worth checking out at least once or twice.

Then there’s the bar. Slice is the main bar and welcomes families as well as just adults. There is a dance party every evening that’s fun for the entire family. Or you can hang out at the sports bar and just enjoy a drink. Or grab a drink and head out to the deck to watch the sun set on another perfect day.

For evening fun, there are nightly shows put on for your entertainment. Some are inside, some are outside. And you’ll see the same faces that you’ve seen throughout the resort performing in the shows.

Tammy and I waiting for the evening show.

In the title I also mentioned friends. I think this is what struck me the most. Throughout our stay, we made friends with lots of folks. Some were guests like us, some were GO’s (Gracious Organizers- those who live and work on site) and GE’s (Gracious Employees – those who live off site but work at the resort). It was awesome how the GO’s would ask to sit with you at meals (yes, you could decline, but we were excited to welcome them to our table). We learned about them and for the rest of our stay, we were greeted like old friends. For me, that was truly the icing on the cake.

Now I’ll bet you’re excited to start planning your own Club Med adventure. You can choose Sandpiper Bay if you want to stay in the states, or one of the many exotic locations world wide. Just contact myself (OLP Travel Pixie Jodi) or with OLP Travel Pixie Tammy. We’ve both experienced the resort, met with representatives of Club Med, and taken our courses in all the Club Med entails. And we would LOVE to help you to plan your Club Med adventure!

Disney World Outside The Theme Parks /2017/05/28/disney-world-outside-theme-parks/ Mon, 29 May 2017 00:57:29 +0000 /?p=11598 Continue reading Disney World Outside The Theme Parks ]]> In my last blog, I told you about some exciting things that you could do after dark in the parks. Today, I want to share some activities that you can enjoy outside of the Walt Disney World theme parks.

Over the past 20 years, I’ve always said that I’m going to visit the Walt Disney World Resort and not buy any park passes. I just want to relax, visit the resorts, eat and shop! Most people just look at me like I have 3 eyes! But, there are a number of things to do without visiting the parks.

One of my favorite things to do, after dark, is enjoy the fireworks without the park crowds. If you are looking for a great, romantic meal, I suggest the California Grill at the top of the Contemporary. Not only is the food incredible, the view of the Magic Kingdom fireworks is breathtaking! When the show starts, the lights are dimmed and the music is piped into the restaurant. They have an outside walkway that you can stand on, if you would rather enjoy the night air.

Looking for a beach scene? A great place to enjoy the MK Fireworks is on the sandy beaches of the Polynesian Resort or the Grand Floridian. The night sky explodes with gorgeous colors over Cinderella’s Castle.

Love EPCOT‘s Illuminations: Reflections of Earth? The resorts surrounding the Boardwalk are where you want to be around 9:00pm. The Beach Club, Yacht Club and Boardwalk all share great views of the evening show. The bridge connecting the Beach Club and Boardwalk is a great viewing location!

Are you ready for acrobats, aerialists, break dancers, singers, trapeze artists, jugglers and clowns and more? Then look no farther than Disney’s West Side for Cirque Du Soliel, La Nouba.

Is a grown up night on the town what you’re looking for? Disney has a plethora of entertainment for the grown ups. If you are in the Disney Springs area, try Paradiso 37, House of Blues and Raglan Road Irish Pub. If you’re on the other side of the resort area, head to the Boardwalk. Jellyrolls, AbracaBar and Atlantic Dance Hall are always filled with fun and laughs!

Maybe you’re in need adult relaxation. Be sure to grab a reservation at one of the fabulous spas located around the Disney resort area. Enjoy a Swedish Message, Apple Hydrotherapy, Tropical Coconut body treatments, Berry Bliss Facials and so much more. Not only is it a renewal for the body, it’s a treat for the nose too!

For some non theme park family fun, head over to Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Mini Golf and putt a few rounds. When you’re done, you can head to one of several resorts that offer private carriage rides. While you’re at the resort, take in a campfire and a movie under the stars. Several of the on site resorts offer s’mores over the fire followed by a nightly Disney flick. Be sure to check out the schedule to see which movie you want to see.

So, as you can see, Disney magic and fun isn’t just during the day or in the theme parks. Next time you visit, try to take some time, outside the parks, and just relax.

If your looking for something different and exciting, be sure to ask your friendly Travel Pixie at OLP Travel. We’ll help sprinkle pixie dust on all your vacation plans!

Disney Parks After The Sun Sets /2017/04/12/disney-parks-after-hours/ Wed, 12 Apr 2017 23:14:31 +0000 /?p=11542 Continue reading Disney Parks After The Sun Sets ]]> After spending a long day at the parks of Walt Disney World , do you stick around for the after hour activities? With lights, sounds and lots of action, the parks come to life when the sun sets.

If you’re at Magic Kingdom, you can have dessert with your fireworks. Throughout the year, the Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant offers the Dessert Fireworks Party. Prior to the show, you will be served a bountiful of yummy treats and drinks. When the fireworks begin, you will be ushered to your seats to relax and enjoy and unobstructed view of the fabulous display.

Love Star Wars? Who doesn’t, right? You can enjoy the Star Wars Galactic Spectacular at a similar dessert party in Hollywood Studios. You can nibble on Darth Vadar cupcakes while enjoying a close up view of the “out of this world” night display. The force is strong with this one! If you are on a diet (which is a curse word in the Mouse House) you can see the show from anywhere on Hollywood Blvd.

While we’re talking about Hollywood Studios, you won’t want to miss Fantasmic! This is a magical show featuring Mickey as one of his best characters, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. Watch as Mickey defeats the villains and wins one for the good guys. This fabulous laser show can be coupled with a dining package. You can dine at Hollywood and Vine, Mama Melrose or Hollywood Brown Derby and receive a special seating ticket for the show. The Fantasmic Dinner Package is available on the dining plan, too.

It sounds like Disney is all about fattening us up during our vacation. EPCOT offers another great dessert experience. The EPCOT Illuminations Sparkling Dessert party will let you taste something yummy from different countries. A few examples are baklava from Morocco, cannoli from Italy, chocolate ganache tarts from France and warm chocolate pudding from the UK. As you nibble on the delicacies watch as the story of the earth unravels before you in a light, laser and fireworks extravaganza.

One of the newest night time attractions is the Rivers of Light in Animal Kingdom Park. With a brilliant fusion of water, sound and light, it’s quite unlike anything you’ve experienced before! The Discovery River comes to life with the whispers of the world. Before your eyes, clusters of lantern light shift and shape into stunning animal spirit forms—the Tiger, Turtle, Elephant and Owl. Spellbound, you’re transported across Asian jungles and tropical oceans to African savannahs and North American mountains. If you want to snag premium seats, you can opt for the Rivers of Light Dinner Package. Enjoy a tasty meal at Tusker House or Tiffins and receive a ticket for the best seats for the show!

If you’re in the mood to dance, join a cavalcade of dancers, stilt walkers and musicians for a nighttime dance party in the streets of Discovery Island in Animal Kingdom Park! The Viva Gaia Street Band and a spirited group of Islanders welcome you to a gala celebrating the wonder and beauty of nature and who we are together—the “Nature Family.” Bursting with cheerful music and spectacular costumes that take inspiration from the living creatures of the air, land and sea, this seemingly spontaneous, free-spirited jubilee winds its way from one end of Discovery Island to the other, eventually arriving at the Discovery Island stage where the exhilarating festivities get into full swing.

Since you will be hanging around Animal Kingdom a bit longer than normal, don’t miss the awakening of the Tree of Life. This is a mesmerizing display of lights and wonders that will take your breath away. Another “must do” is the night time Kilimanjaro Safari. You will see some of the night predators that are not out during the day hours.

Universal Orlando’s Volcano Bay is here to stay! /2017/03/10/universal-orlandos-volcano-bay-is-here-to-stay/ Fri, 10 Mar 2017 23:57:48 +0000 /?p=11503 Continue reading Universal Orlando’s Volcano Bay is here to stay! ]]> On May 25th the geography of Universal Orlando will change. Along with 2 theme parks, there will be the new water park, Volcano Bay. The philosophy celebrated at this new water park is “Water is
watLife. Life is Joy”. It’s the carefree attitude that the fabled Waturi islanders have embraced on their Pacific isle for centuries. Now you can live the Waturi way at this all-new park where thrills and relaxation flow in perfect harmony.

Made up of multiple immersive areas, this is going to be a water themed park like no other. There are a whopping 18 attractions as well as lush views and private cabanas.

A big part of what makes this park so innovative is the “Tapu Tapu”. At Volcano Bay every guest is granted the powers of the this magical, tapuwaterproof wrist band. With just a touch of your wrist you’ll be able to hold your place in a Virtual Line at the rides and discover wondrous surprises. As you wonder though the park, look for the sign of the Waturi. Tap with your band and it will give you a time to return to that attraction. When it’s your ride time, just go back and touch your band to the totem. If you get busy, your Tapu will remind you that it’s time for you to head to the attraction.

volAt the heart of the island stands Krakatau: the mighty Fire and Water Volcano. Towering 200 feet above the tropical landscape, Krakatau streams waterfalls during the day and fiery lava effects at night. Inside the volcano, there are a variety of heart-pounding water slides.

Looking for family adventure? Try the Krakatau Aqua Coaster. These four-person canoes slide upward through the mists and into dark twists and turns within the volcano before emerging with a plunge through a waterfall. Another great family ride, Maku Puihi Rafts, drops you into a deep gorge before spinning you around a bowl-like formation. This one is not for the faint at heart!krak

If relaxing in a warm pool is your idea of a good day, then you will love Waturi Beach. The gentle waves will help you to shake off the stress. At least until some brave soul comes flying through the clear plexie tube of the Ko’kiri Body Plunge.

The little ones will love River Village. At the Tot Tiki Reef, little ones can splash in the shallows, play among the splashy slides, and run through the riverspraying fountains. The Runamukka Reef has bubbling geysers, water guns, slides and dumping cups. You will find shaded bamboo sea creatures and waving seaweed.

Best of all, Volcano Bay is located in the middle of the Universal fun! So you’re close to all 5 resorts, 2 great parks and City Walk restaurants and shops. So you can enjoy Volcano Bay in the morning and early afternoon, head back to your resort room for a nap, then either head back to Volcano Bay or elsewhere for some evening fun.

Finally, now that you are excited about all the fun, let the Travel Pixies at Our Laughing Place Travel help you plan the perfect vacation. There are many different packages that are available and we’ll help you find the perfect one for you. Just ask!
